Downz has been performing on the bass guitar for over 20 years now in various rock and funk soul groups. Cutting his teeth playing with Jaz (JS3 Drums) in the Melbourne indie outfit Jaded Temple, Downz supported the likes of Joe Camilleri, Thirtsy Merc, Skunkhour, Chris Wilson and Motor Ace .... and of course Joel Spence!
Downz brings a heap of experience and high energy to the rock trio with his backing vocals, and unique bass with overdriven electric guitar sounds !

From humble beginnings, John started his musical career as songwriter at a very young age. Self-taught in Guitar, Keys and Bass, John was very active in the school band scene in both performance and writing original content. At age 15 he started learning Percussion and Drums under teacher Brian Czempinski and then went onto completing his VCE certificate in Percussion and Bachelor Degrees in Performance/Composition at Monash University.
Throughout his transition from school age to tertiary and beyond, John has continued to teach, write, perform and tour with various local artists. His styles have adapted during the course of his experience to nearly all mainstream styles of music. Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop, Latin, Big Band, Fusion, Classical and Jazz are all strings to his bow that John draws from when writing new material and performing on the drum set.
Couple this with is his passion for music making and you have a powerful combination of creative force meeting technical flexibility. John is quoted as saying ‘ love to do something so much that you would be happy to do it for free. Then, learn to do it so well that people would be happy to pay you for it’.
